On September 1, 2022 our world changed forever. Our son Leo entered the world, not nearly as loud and mighty as we were hoping. It was unclear if Leo was even going to survive his first week of life. Little did we know, he had undiagnosed Spina Bifida. So many questions and concerns came to mind! We were told Leo would probably not walk and will have multiple physical disabilities. Through it all, Leo spent over four of his first six months of life in the ICU and underwent over six surgeries during that time.
That journey wasn’t easy. It came with uncertainty, fear, and a lot of unknowns. As parents, hearing those kinds of diagnoses can feel overwhelming, and in those moments, you’re not just thinking about today, you’re thinking about your child’s entire future. But through it all, Leo has shown us what resilience truly looks like.
Leo is three years old & is thriving!
We are fortunate enough to be able to provide items that are not covered by insurance such as supplies to make Leo’s food, wagons to carry Leo and all his supplies, z-vibe, etc. These tools have made a huge difference in his development and in helping him continue to progress toward his goals.
Throughout this journey, we’ve connected with other families who are walking a very similar path. Many of them are doing everything they can to help their children succeed, but don’t always have access to the same resources. And we know firsthand how much of an impact those resources can make.
That’s where Lion’s Hope was born.
The name “Lion’s Hope” represents strength, courage, and resilience in the face of uncertainty, something Leo has shown us every single day. It’s a reminder that even in the hardest moments, there is still hope.
We created Lion’s Hope to support families who may not be able to cover the cost of these essential items. Our goal is to step in and provide support where it’s needed most, because we know that financials should be the last thing on your mind when you are trying to help your special little one achieve their goals.
No family should have to choose between giving their child the best opportunity to grow and the financial burden that can come with it. Through Lion’s Hope, we hope to make that journey just a little bit easier, and to remind families that they are not alone.
