3 Signs Of Neck Dysfunction

By September 14, 2026No Comments2 min read

Your Movement

Dr. Bryce Benson with Northern Lakes Chiropractic. I want to go over three things that can indicate that you’re having neck dysfunction.

The first one is going to be your movement. When we look down, we should be able to move fully forward. We should be able to move fully back. When we look over our shoulders, we should basically be able to be parallel with our shoulder from right to left.

That should be done with absolutely zero pain. If you do feel pain, it’s a very quick indication that there’s something going on in the neck that’s not functioning properly.

The Way You Sleep

The second one is going to be the way we sleep. If we’re waking up in the morning and feeling that tightness around our neck, the big thing to understand is that if it continues for not just minutes, but hours, it’s a very clear indication that there’s something wrong within the neck. It’s causing some type of dysregulation or dysfunction.

Headaches and Migraines

The last one is going to be your symptoms. Headaches and migraines are one of the most common things we see when people have dysregulation of the neck.

The important thing to understand is that if there is dysregulation of the neck, it’s going to contribute to symptoms, and you’re going to feel those symptoms as headaches and migraines.

Getting to the Root Cause

If we have any of these three, we want to make sure we’re getting them checked out. That’s what we do here in this office.

We sit you down and go through exactly what’s going on, what you’ve tried, what’s worked, and what hasn’t. We do digital range of motion, AI analysis of your posture, and X-rays so we can indicate exactly why the neck is causing these certain symptoms while we’re doing these very simple things in life.

We can get to the root cause of your problem and start figuring out how to give the best solution.
